After using the Black & Decker and Dewalt hammer drills for drilling into concrete and natural stone tiles in showers, this Milwaukee Brushless SDS Plus D-Handle Rotary Hammer has made an incredible difference in the job, saving much time and effort.

This drill is much more convenient than those we previously used. The others were corded. This one is used with the standard M18 Milwaukee Lithium-Ion battery. These batteries interchange with many other tools which we use and they are incredibly long lasting and powerful.

The tool and battery together are easy to handle and the SDS-Plus system allows quick change out on the drill bits. And the rotary system in this drill outperforms anything we have ever used. It has much more downward force.

The depth gauge on the side makes the drilling depth consistent. These photos show our last job installing a hand rail on a front porch.

Although we use impact resistant gloves the hammer function requires much less downward pressure and as you will notice on the top picture there is an anti-vibration system with a built-in shock absorber in the handle which lessens the vibration on the hands.

The Model number on this one is Milwaukee 2613-20.

It is advisable NOT to use this drill on ceramic tile, natural stone or porcelain shower walls. With the hammer drill setting it is too aggressive for these surfaces and will cause cracking and chipping. The Milwaukee impact drill which is much smaller is preferable to drill through these surfaces to avoid damage to the surface.

These final two photos show the post and final installation on the handrail that was installed.

All in all the Milwaukee M18 18V Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 1 in. SDS-Plus D-Handle Rotary Hammer is a great choice to save you time and effort on tile, concrete and natural stone drilling projects.
